Then move there James. Money is more important to you than freedom. You gutless, sell-out.

          Ditto, Matt.

Integrity shouldn’t be treated like it’s disposable one day to the next.

Lost all respect for this man.

I would hold off on the high and mighty on this one. Many players make a lot of extra money off the Chinese market, Kobe Bryant was/is one of the first and continues to do so to this day through his film company. It’s why you don’t see him, or may ex/current-NBA players who have a stake in this Chinese game, making any waves or putting their support behind the NBA. This is about one thing right now and it’s not human rights, freedom of expression, or democracy.

          It’s about $$$.

Having said that, I don’t have much respect for Mr. Harden based solely on his flopping all over the court. Helluva shoother tho.

I’m gonna be real Jamie, I’m strongly considering walking away from the NBA culture.

And it’s not for ideological reasons.

It’s some people on this blog, Stephen A. Smith, and other liberal minded persons who use this as an opportunity to move moral goal posts because this is a global issue and not an American one. That’s absurd and inauthentic.

Muslims being thrown off moving trains isn’t shades of grey.

Christians imprisoned and murdered in China is not shades of grey.

Some people would rather believe the lie (shades of grey). The lie is easier to rationalize.

That’s just a false analogy and leads to unnecessary and dangerous division.

Sean you sill fool you! You don’t actually believe any of the nonsense they’ve been shoveling you all these years do you?

Not a whole lot can be done about Xi imprisoning his own people, Stan.

This has gotten much worse. Since 2014, he’s escalated the limits of his torture and proselytizing and brainwashing.

My two friends, married, live in HK…keep me updated.

I was ignorant about these problems up until 2015. So, I got clued in.

They’re performing Goebbel like experiments. Injected people with unknown medications, liquids, etc.

They shave off the beards of Muslim men, force them to eat Pork and drink alcohol.

              And then kill Muslims, Christians…

              That’s called genocide, dude.

You gonna support an organization that co-signs genocide, Stan?

That’s a fair assessment but hardly relegated solely to the NBA and this issue. The globalization and de-valuation of local products, people and businesses in favor of corporate is at the heart of economic inequality. If you use electronics you’re pretty much supporting Chinese manufacturing. If you buy textiles that are over-priced, the same. Your tech support is generally located offshore. Most oil comes from the middle east or Russia. You could choose to go full Jon K. and go live in a ramshackle house in the woods by yourself slowly losing your grasp on reality Or you can realize that everything is political, has an economic impact and that your ability to influence any of it is nil. Like the Dead said: “I will survive.”

If I’m being honest, I would say that everyone looks to score points for their team whenever possible. Is it right? probably not. Is it human? Absolutely. There’s no taking the incongruities of life out of the human psyche. You can whitewash it as you choose but it’s always there, just waiting for the right moment to point out one’s personal hypocrisies and foibles. I’m semi at peace with that situation. We can only do what we can in order to be able to live with ourselves. It’s when one person says ‘But I know what’s best for you because of _______” that ship flew for me long ago and yet I, like all of us, often fall into that trap far too easily.

I have a phrase I often use in life: “there is no winning, not until you’re dead. There’s just figuring out a way to stay afloat until you get to tomorrow and do it all again.” You can accept it or fight it, the result is generally the same. Might be a tad nihilist of a life philosophy but it suits me so there we go.

I’ll also add that, this too shall pass. The problems that face the people of China, and the rest of the globe, were there before the Daryl Morey tweet and will most likely continue on being problems well after this moment has been forgotten by most of the planet. Dangerous divisions exist in many facets of society the world round, how we choose to rise above and find commonality is what makes us human Hope you don’t walk away fully but I took a huge break over the summer just because I had major fatigue. The most important thing is for you to feel and be healthy in your own mind and body, ain’t much else you got control over, anyhow.

@magicman -- you know it’s an odd time on planet Earth. There are so few who hoard so much (akin to how Dragons in the various fantasy worlds live, sleeping in a secluded place atop a pile of gold they never intend to do anything with but dangit they could sure use a little more gold and some sheep and a virgin to eat) and so many that lack for more than a little.

I live in a country that puts kids in cages, separates families and all in the name of my security I’ve not had one issue with a foreigner in this country. Ever. They have never threatened me, I’m pretty sure they bear me no ill-will and on top of all of that my family, like every other white American, came here on a boat. It was 100’s of years ago, but nevertheless that is the truth. To begrudge another for seeking the same opportunity of growth and freedom that has gotten me to where I am today is one of this countries greatest hypocrisy’s. Is America so much better, morally speaking, than China? The Muslim travel ban, white nationalism, and so on and so forth I say we’re just different shades of gray wrapped in a different color flag.

The fact is that humans, as a species, are ugly on the inside. It takes a lot to allow someone to enjoy what you have. Look no further than your local food court. Are strangers sitting with one another, sharing stories and bonding over the fact that they’re all in a place where eating at the food court is where it’s at? Nope, they’re sitting on phones, sitting alone, moving through the drudgery and doing the best they can in the doing. There a millions of microcosms that reflect our human condition everywhere.

If a break is what takes, take the break. Like you said (spot on, by the way):

“In a Godless society, Money is the new God.
We small voices, we can’t move Mountains.”

      Sean,
What do you expect out of a country(the United States of America) that has made GREED, FAME, POWER, and MORAL RELATIVISM their true GOD?
As of January of 2018, there had been 60,069,971 babies MURDERED in the name of choice.
I can’t even go into the atrocities that our own government has carried out, and is currently carrying out, on it’s own people because this is not the place to do it.
The “Leaders” of our once great nation have sold their souls decades ago. They have bought into the Beast System.
There’s only one way out of this mess, and it doesn’t reside in any man made solutions.

There’s one thing I can control, Matt: Where and from whom I consume and buy.

If it’s made in China, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, I won’t buy it. Won’t consume it.

Everything from Licorices to PVC Pipe.

“The fact is that humans, as a species, are ugly on the inside.”
      This is 100% factual.
When everyone’s opinion of morality is acceptable, you are left with our current society.

@magicman – I don’t mean to pile on, either. I think we’re seeing the same thing through our own perspective. Do you, my man, it’s all just opionating anyhow.

would love to see a W tonight, I think we can all agree on that.

Agree. We’re all very passionate about the Lakers regardless of how we present our arguments or perspectives. Things are rough right now, but hoping a win tonight will put everyone in a much better disposition and give our reeling team some confidence. Let’s go Lakers let’s go get that dubya!!!!
