    Making the Mundane Exciting

Here’s a chap called Nick Heath who’s a rugby commentator and journalist and also a podcast producer. But it’s the commentating bit we’re really interested in. Because in the absence of any live sport, all postponed because of coronavirus, Nick started commenting on everyday life as he saw it and shared the videos on Twitter.
And they really will make your day better.

This commentator’s got no live sport so he’s commentating on everyday life and it’s brilliant

How’s everyone doing? Miss you crazy lot! My hubby and I are fine. I was the first one to sign the form and asked to work remotely. So my days are spend working in the yard, tending to my roses, cleaning up the leaves, trying out new recipes, and…. oh wait, I’m supposed to work… teaching my class that has now gone online. Thankfully these college kids are home and not coughing or sneezing on me. I’m social distancing as much as I can and have enough food should we need to self-quarantine.

They say hydroxychloroquine shows promise in treating the symptoms of the virus. I’ve been on that medication for 15 years to treat an autoimmune disorder. Maybe it’ll protect me now.

Hope you are SI! My main question on that particular drug is where does the info come from. Fauchi is not confident that it is the Cure yet?

Hi DJ. I saw it on the CDC website for promising treatment for those infected. There has been no rigorous testing done as in the double blind type of study which is the gold standard in the medical world. What evidence so far has been anecdotal (doctors in China and Italy reported lower viral loads in patients given 400 mg of hydroxychloroquine a day). Which is why Mayo clinic is also about to begin clinical trials on using this drug as treatment for coronavirus.

Hahaha seely, that’s some good food for thought. Very funny post indeed. Glad you and your hubby are doing well. The same here, except there is not much juice left to make the world go round. The more you think you have a little bit of fiber left in your immune system to help lift you up the faster you tend to fall back to Earth. Sometimes life can be very unforgiving.
The fact that you tending to your garden makes me feel good about your situation. Gardening can really help relieve stress during this gloomy times. That’s nature and nature vs nature tends to cancel each other out in neutral way but in a good way. So that’s a good call.
Here in Atlanta, things are getting worst by the day and there is no end in sight.
Businesses are closed and there is no where to go. My wife and kids have the rare luxury of spending more time together than ever before. Maybe that’s what the doctor ordered. We are all doing well and happy, just wish there was a sprinkle of Lakers games to boot in the interim.
I need a haircut and all barbershops are closed. Right now, I am well on my way to look like a homeless man with the way my crazy hair is growing.
Make sure you tend to that garden of Eden and let the flowers and petals bloom to the fullest and represent the Laker nation. Be safe seely and God bless.

Hi there Buba. Good to hear from you too. If you suffer from autoimmune disorder like me, it’s a constant battle even without coronavirus thrown in the mix. We do the best we can to slow its progression so that we have as much time with the ones we love.

LOL about looking like a homeless person. My hubby is complaining that he can’t get a haircut too. I may have to cut his hair for him. Either that, or start looking like the caveman from the Geico commercials. You guys remember that? “Geico – so easy, even a caveman can do it.”

It is nice to be able to hunker down with family. Imagine being stuck someplace while your family are miles away and you can’t go to them because coronavirus prevents travel. Oh wait! That’s me…. everyone of my family member is in Singapore and I can’t be with them. On the other hand, I’m glad they are in Singapore which seems to have this virus much more under control than us here in the US.

Which I could share pictures of my patio garden. It’s pretty and the roses are blooming. Fish fertilizer is a miracle grower lol. Those plantys just luuuuuuurve ’em.

Sending a prayer for all of you to be save and healthy.

Seely ! I’m happy to know that you’re doing good..this autoimmune disorder is concerning though..it can’t be easy to live with but I hope it’s not debilitating…certainly hasn’t dented your spirit or kept you from becoming an accomplished person…

HCQ seems to be showing increasing promise for treatment but a doctor in our country who’d been prescribed the medicine along with Azithromycin for Covid-19 prophylaxis died of cardiac arrest today..

Please stay out of harm’s way…

I cannot tell you how much your support means to me, my Lakerholic brothers. This blog has helped me through the grief. Thank you for sharing and connecting. This blog has been my sanctuary for many years. No matter if life goes to s*** in a hand basket I know I feel better when I’m with those who share my love for the Lakers and this blog has been a huge part of that. Thank you for coming here in this difficult time and being there for each other. Love you all.

Seely, I don’t even know if I will ever get over the loss of Kobe Bryant. I cried all day until there were no tears left. This hurts really bad, and to think his daughter also perished as well, made it even harder to absorb. What a loss?

It’s a day later and I’m still crying every time I hear or read about Kobe. He’s like a son, brother, friend, and family to many of us. He represents the best the game has to offer and he was also someone who cared about other people and the less fortunate. And as you said, our loss is compounded by the demise of 13-year-old Gianna. Who knows what great things she would’ve gone on to achieve if her young life had not been cut short. Aaaaaagh….. this is so hard. I can’t even focus on work.

Seely, you are making me cry even more. I felt like a part of me is gone. Yes, I have taken today off from work so I can absorb this gut wrenching blow. What is the point of going to work if I can’t even focus on the job? Why Kobe Bryant and his beautiful young daughter at such a young age? Man, this really hit me hard.

The Lakers still have a roster spot open, put it that way. No one really knows what is going on behind the scenes. The Grizz are supposedly trying to trade him, but perhaps they’re talking a buy out. If so, I guess he would be in play, but based on the Lakers moves, I think they know something we don’t and might go a different direction. Even though we have JaVale-Boogie-AD-Kuz to share time at the 4-5, with LeBron and Dudley playing some power forward, too, I think we’re one guy short. I would have rather see us pass on Rondo and leave two spots open for Iggy and a big (Ryan Anderson, Noah, Faried, Nene – all unsigned right now). We’ll see.

Another thought, Seely. Nothing is etched in stone that the #46 pick, Talen Horton-Tucker, will make the team, although he probably will. It makes me wonder whether the Lakers can sign him to a two-way contract to open 2 roster spots. He’s likely to spend the entire season on the South Bay Lakers anyway, but I suppose he could turn down that offer and find a spot on another team. The Lakers are obviously in a win-now mode and might sacrifice THT for an Iggy and Korver, hypothetically.

This Westbrook thing makes that contract valuable when it comes to matching Russ’ massive salary. I wonder if the Grizz are looking to get into a multi-team deal and end up with a draft pick? That would be Kawhi screwing us for a 2nd time since he’s pretty much the cause of OKC’s breakup…

      • LakerTom (Publisher) 10:29 PM on July 8, 2019 Permalink | Log in to Reply

It’s also possible that Iggy’s salary will get included in a trade for Westbrook to a team like Miami. where they’re hard capped and have to waive him. The Clippers and Lakers both used their room exceptions so it would be a question of where he wants to go. He’s a Pelinka client so I think we’re still in the mix. Note that we didn’t use our room exception until the Clippers used their room exception. One thing for sure, Grizzlies aren’t going to pay him $17 million. He will get bought out and Lakers will keep that 15th spot open. They could also waive Troy Daniels who’s on a 1-year deal to open up another spot if they wanted to sign Korver and still keep a slot open for Iggy.

And just like THAT, the pundits are writing off the Lakers in favor of Clippers to win the title. Bobby Marks and Woj predictably, and Vegas. No matter what, Los Angeles will always be Lakers town, regardless of who signs with the Clippers.

    • LakerTom (Publisher) 2:31 PM on January 31, 2019 Permalink | Log in to Reply

After the initial shock wore off, it’s easy to see this was a get ahead of the curve move by the Knicks and could eliminate them bidders should Anthony Davis be available this summer. The relationship between Porzingis and the Knicks had deteriorated so much he was planning on accepting his qualifying offer so he could leave the following year so the Knicks decided to cut bait and clear enough cap space not only to sign one but two superstar free agents. They’ll still be well short of a true contender even with two superstars but it’s New York and they’re the Knicks so they’ll get somebody.

What nobody will talk about also is how the deal went down so quickly. By the time everybody started tweeting about other teams getting involved, the deal was done and the tweets were MOA – Moot on Arrival. The hypocrisy of the general managers complaining about players making deals among their friends is insulting. The Lakers might have been willing to use their $38 million in cap space to pair Porzingis with LeBron and Anthony Davis. LMAO about the complaints and criticism of LeBron, Paul, Magic, and the Lakers. Hypocrites.

I think BI likes having Rondo back. He’s shooting 73% since Rondo’s return. If it wasn’t for fouls he would have 30 last game to. He did have 3 of our 20 turnovers but I’ll take it. Brandon won this round of 1 vs 2 in his draft class. Simmons couldnt stop him and neither could Butler.

Thibs has has a well deserved reputation for running his players into the ground. T Wolves are up 25 with like 5-6 minutes left And Luke empties his bench. But Thibs leaves starters in? That’s just plain stupid. Towns had already taken one nasty fall. Anything can happen. There was no reason to take that kind of risk.
