I don’t think the Pelicans (while improving) will be the team that is the overachiever this year.

The Pacers did pretty good in Free Agency, acquired T.J. Warren (why just give him away? Smh) and a good draft.

Vic comes back healthy and they’ve been in the same system together.

People literally sleeping on Rip city.

    They’re gonna be really good.

Morning, Sean. David Griffin certainly did a splendid job with the Pels this summer. They will be a better team this year without AD than last year with AD in my opinion. Lot will depend on how the young trio from the Lakers perform. I’ll be rooting for them as my League Pass team, except when they play the Lakers, of course.

Good Afternoon, on the other side of the Coast, Tom!

I agree with you RE Pelicans. Excellent analysis.

Indiana has a lot of cerebral talent plus athleticism. I think they match up well against everyone except Philly.

If they add interior scoring, watch out, they could contend.

Pels will push 30 wins which’ll make for a nice story. Indy in the mix in the east, but not a real contender. Portland is Indy west.

Difference is Myles Turner is more consistent player than Hassan Might Might not show up.

They add an interior scoring they can compete against the favorite which everyone sees as Philly.

    Once again a back-loaded schedule…

    A tweak though.

We should after a couple of tough losses, be around 15-5 in first 20.

    I’m seeing 16-4 minimum.

We’re gonna hope the injuries that happen don’t affect the playoff rotations outside of that really.

    I predict 56-26 1st 2nd or 3rd in the West.

Sad thing is this occurred back in 2018 when Beasley was away due to the death of his mother. Wouldn’t hold it against somebody for lighting up under that situation. Pot should be legal anyway. Less harmful than booze.

Kobe’s hot streak at the end of the 2007 season is definitely a top 10 heater streak in NBA History.

    40.3 PPG
    47.3 FG %

4 games of 50 or more as well. Including two (2) 60 point games.

      Green reupped.

      I expect AD as well.

      I think Ingram signs a long-term deal,

      Hield will stay in Cowtown.

No idea on the rest. if I was BKN I’d rather pay Joe Harris 15+ than Caris.

    @DJ

Gonna be tough beating the Stroes in a 7 game series when you can throw out Grienke and Verlander 4 times.

    • LakerTom (Publisher) 6:53 PM on July 31, 2019 Permalink | Log in to Reply

This is what I just wrote to DJ:

“The big mistake in my mind was made last summer when we allowed ourselves to get outbid for Corbin, who wanted to be a Yankee. As for this trade deadline, I think we saw a lot of the same jealousy and envy for the Yankees that we’ve seen for the Lakers. The teams just would not accept a fair offer from us and traded key pitchers to other teams for less than what we offered.

I’m glad that Cashman did not give away Deivi Garcia. He is going to be an ace for us over the next few years. Giving up Frazier and him for Bauer would have been stupid. Deivi will be wearing pinstripes before the end of the year and will be our ace. To trade your best prospect for a rental would have been stupid. Thor would have been the only one and the Mets were not going to trade for him. So Cashman did the right thing and kept his hand and Garcia. Wish it were differently but we can make it work.

We won’t be the favorite to win it all, just like aren’t with the Lakers without Kawhi, but we’ll have a great shot and will have the assets to fix those holes next season for both the Lakers and the Yankees. So f**k ’em all, I say. We can still win it all. Nobody has a better or deeper position starters and roster than the Yanks or Lakers. Nobody has a better relief pitching staff. All we need to do in both cases is get healthy. We do that, we can still win it all.”
