Missed the game, AK … but it appears neither team shot the ball very well. Guess the Ls were just a tad bit better.

Yeah, way too many TO’s, but this might be their best defensive game this year.

There still is great concern that the strokes and coma caused irreparable brain damage, Amit, so Lamar is a long way from being out of the woods. But every small step is a sign of hope that this might all end well and Lamar get a second chance at life. Keep hoping and praying.

That is true, LT..long, uncertain road to recovery…his CAT scans were clean but that doesn’t rule out brain damage…

It just makes me mad that he was reported as being brain dead…that is as good as being dead..just a question of when one decides to pull the plug…

Hell, Amit. There was actually a site that posted he had died. For about a minute, my eyes were watering until I saw a blogger note that that was from an untrusted site, as if any of these sites are “trusted.” Anytime you let booze or drugs take over, you are truly risking your life as well as others around you. There but for fortune..

His 02 sat on scene was 38% and the ALS crew got it up to 58%. His Oxygen levels never got to a point where Brain damage was a possibility.

Not trying to be on a soapbox again, but another case of first responders actions taking a backseat due to media hysteria.

People can bash TMZ but Harvey Levin tries to uncover every detail. So what if he pays money for it, information is the most expensive commodity in the world.

Lamar Odom’s condition has improved in a hugely important way … his heart is on the mend … TMZ has learned.
Sources familiar with the situation tell us, tests on Lamar’s heart Friday morning revealed his heart function is “much better.” Doctors have told Lamar’s friends and family this is a good sign of improvement, that a critical organ is responding.

Never been to the Ranch, but I have known guys who have the balls to do the right thing…Patrick Kane is asked to leave when he drinks too much…unless he’s in Buffalo, as an example.

Even if LO was getting snowed, is regardless other than the fact, the owner knew it was going on and was in his right to ask LO to dry out and come back. He knew Lamar was wet…d**n shame.

You have to wonder about their liability in a situation like this.
It’s much worse than a bartender serving an inebriated customer.
Definitely both moral and legal irresponsibility by the brothel..

Adding to LT’s thoughts from the post below …

The two extreme versions of explanations usually given for the kind of game that we saw last night are –

    1) See what happens when Kobe’s teammates make shots ? Kobe is ALWAYS a willing passer, so if things don’t work it is on the teammates

    2) Well, look what happens when Kobe decides to get his teammates involved. We play better team basketball and win games.

I think the reality, usually, is somewhere in between. Kobe is a great passer but he isn’t always in a frame of mind where he’d be likely to make the best play on each possession…that is a part of who he is as a player and the only way he knows how to be a great scorer..often not the most efficient approach but ,for the most part, the results have been GREAT…so one can’t knock Kobe too much…I don’t think he ever believes that he is hurting the team by doing what he does ( it is rare anyway..very rarely has Kobe lost us a game by himself ..on the other hand, the games he has won virtually by himself..well…there have been more than a few )..so…calling it “selfishness” might be a simplistic but signs of a “me first” attitude haven’t all been imaginary either….

Kobe does exert a disproportionate amount of influence on the floor but when he loses patience and decides, pretty much, to go it alone, the teammates have a lil something to do with it….sometimes it starts with Kobe…sometimes with the rest of ’em…the only thing that has remained unchanged for a while is that Kobe is the one who can keep others on a leash and decide when/how ( or whether ) to exercise patience with ’em….not the other way around….a consistent pattern of apparent “bad habits” ( lack of movement off the ball etc ) among his teammates indicates that Kobe IS a factor…likely not the dominant factor ‘cuz , like NC pointed out the other day, a ball dominating guard shouldn’t keep them from doing their job, but a significant factor nonetheless…

Now, for the current roster, Kobe’s approach, by itself, isn’t gonna make a world of difference to the results..( except that we might end up losing that pick lol ) …but, given the new reality of his body that Kobe himself has acknowledged, a changed mindset might make things a lil easier on Kobe and the game more fun for all of ’em….a smidgen more of this Kobe woulda served his earlier self well but then, Kobe is about as stubborn as they come…change that some have wanted to see for a while is now likely to happen ‘cuz, if he is to continue operating at a high level, there simply isn’t another option…

Well said, Amit. You are educated and intelligent and insightful although at times exasperating. LOL. It’s always more fun to focus on the extreme possibilities but like you pointed out, most things end up somewhere in the middle. And with Kobe, maybe game to game.

You can’t be a big time elite scorer night after night without being something of a ball hog. That’s just how it is. So we shouldn’t expect Kobe to suddenly change. But we might expect him to gradually change, which what I think is happening, most recently due to the physical breakdown and the team’s at times inspired play without Kobe. He won’t be pass first all the time but he also won’t be shoot first all the time either. He will work to find the right balance.

I think he will balance his scoring and facilitating based on how the team is doing and he is defended. I also think doing that will make his teammates better. That’s why Kobe 2015 will be a new and improved version of Kobe. The rest of the year will be working to fully recover from his injuries and to work on his new court persona in hopes of the Lakers competing next year.

That all sounds good, LT … but I’ll believe it when I see it over the course of this season. One game does not a season make.
