I agree. I also think the desire for their pick’s willingness and confidence to work out against other potential picks is going to be an important factor in their final decision. Lonzo Ball may have to do some form of workout against De’Aaron Fox to prove he is that alpha “relentless” player they are looking for. If Lonzo wants the Lakers to draft him, he may have to earn it

As much as the Lakers want that one on one or Lonzo’s willingness to do it, I don’t think it’s a good idea. Ball’s value is how he can make others around him better, not one-on-one which is Fox’s strength. Perhaps Lakers will do the 3-3 format like what they did with Russell during his workout. It was Russell’s ability to marshal 2 other unknown players that swayed the Lakers towards him I believe.
If I were Lonzo, I wouldn’t do a 1-on-1 but would welcome a chance to do a 3-on-3 or 5-on-5. Can’t have your franchise player afraid to workout.

I think when they drafted Russell they were hoping he was gonna be that alpha. But none of the young players seem to be that person able to impose his will like Kobe or lead like LeBron. Hard to look pass Lonzo Ball given his track record with UCLA and his determination to play for the Lakers.
Morning, Seely. I still think Russell can be that alpha player and an All-Star. None of these guys are in Kobe’s or LeBron’s league but there is usually no more the 3 or 4 of those guys in the entire league at any time and they need help to win because it’s still a team game.

Good evening Tom, its midnight here in Singapore. Perhaps you’re right. Perhaps he needs a couple more years to grow into that role, I really dont know.

Lonzo is nothing like his father. Lavar should not factor into this. Lonzo is a team guy, not a selfish guy.
