Hey, let’s ride with the Kids (Russ, Clarky, Black, Brown, Nance, Randle & Kobe. Let’s not sign anyone now (LA exception) for more than a one year deal. We can watch these guys develop and go at it next season (2016-17) with big $$$$. Find players with the courage to take the Lakers to new heights after Kobe! Calling on all non-fraidy cats!
The rise in the salary cap next year would help convince a few players to sign short contracts, but most of who’s out there are (and truly available to the Lakers) are guys who will want contracts that are a few years and provide financial security. Ed Davis is a prime example, as hard as he worked and filled up the stat sheet for the Lakers, he had a front row seat to watch Xavier Henry’s plight. So you can not blame some players for taking less, over a longer number of years. We all know that everyone is in their own situation, so what’s good for one player may not apply to another. I guess it’s time to call up Boozer and Jeremy Lin and ask them back, because as things are going it will be tough to fill a 15 man roster (sorry, I forgot, the Lakers always carry 14, saving the last spot for the man that is added midseason to carry the team to the “promised land”)….and yes, I’m being facetious.
I say no to bringing back Jeremy or Carlos … let’s just roll with the youngins and endure their growing pains … which, hopefully, will eventually pay off.
