Lakers could end up with Kemba Walker and Anthony Davis

Kemba Walker surprise move

Kemba Walker could be set to leave the Charlotte Hornets this summer as a free agent and the Dallas Mavericks are reportedly the frontrunners for his signature.

If Walker does indicate that he will leave Charlotte this summer, a number of NBA teams will likely be interested in his services.

The Lakers, Knicks, Nets and a number of teams have been linked with signing him to fill a max-salary slot.

But according to The Charlotte Observer, the Mavericks will be doing everything they can to sign the 28-year-old.

“Two sources with knowledge of the Mavericks’ thinking expect Walker, the Hornets’ three-time All-Star point guard, to be that team’s top target when NBA free-agency begins July 1,” the story read.

David Griffin is now the New Orleans Pelicans general manager and he already revealed previously what he would look for in an Anthony Davis trade.

“If I was holding their cards, I would probably want to be in a situation where I got at least one young player that projected potentially to be a star,” he said back in February.

“Draft picks, an elite role player, somebody that can really further the cause for us as a winner.

“Because when you’re bringing more young kids to the fore, you need those guys to galvanise the group.”
