Playing like he ought to, KCP started real slow last season, but Hart was hurt so no real competition for his spot. Josh has as good of a shot as anyone to snag a key role via solid play.

Here’s the real question. Can any of these bench players beat out the projected starter?
Lonzo -> Rondo
KCP -> Hart
Ingram -> Lance
LeBron -> Kuzma
McGee -> Wagner
I don’t see it happening. Open competition always sounds great but there’s also the issue of creating a good balance between the starters and the bench as well as the issue of needing to accelerate rather than limit the growth of their young player, especially Lonzo, Ingram, Kuzma, and Hart.

Rondo, for sure, if LB can’t shoot.
Rondo 46% FG, 60% FT, 31% 3’s and 8.5 dimes per.
LB 36% 45% 31% 7.2

I don’t see any of the reserves on 1-year deals beating out any projected starter.
Wouldn’t make sense for Lance to start over Ingram or Rondo over Lonzo.
Injury is the only way Luke would start Lance or Rondo.
Best chance to push for a starting gig could be Josh Hart over KCP.
Great to have open competition but you still need to manage egos.
