Ingram, Hart, and 2019 first round pick unprotected. No Deng. The net result is it cost us $11.5M in additional salaries to swap Ingram for Kawhi and lose Hart.

Hey, Sean, how you doing? Well, I hope. It would be enough if Kawhi tells the Spurs and league he won’t re-sign with any team but the Lakers. Otherwise, we wait for him to be a free agent summer of 2019.

Tom,
I’m well.
I don’t think the Spurs can do better than 3 players and a pick or two.
They can get a similar deal for 2+1 elsewhere.
Kawhi is worth it.

I don’t think so. Ingram is the one who will go because he basically is best at the same position as Kawhi, PG, and LeBron. Lonzo would not be a good fit on Spurs with his dad. Lakers will resist giving up Kuzma. Will give up Hart instead. At least that’s my take. Spurs could send Kawhi to Clips too.
Yeah, that track took things waaaaay too far. Then again, it’s a different generation and they may not see it as anything more than a little bit of shade.
But when Momma Kuzma drops a ‘enough is enough, boys’ style Tweet I feel like that says it all.

I would do Ball and Ingram plus picks, but not three plus.
If push came to shove, I might include Hart but in no way am I giving up Kuz.
Think Randle signs off on a S&T? Leonard is “only” making $20 mil, I wonder if Randle and, more importantly, his agent are shooting for something in that range? Ingram makes $5.7 mil next season so Julius couldn’t get a deal for more than $15ish mil. I don’t believe the financial value of a draft pick is included in trades, anymore, but that’s a steep price.
This is where it gets dicey for the Lakers. Julius has to say yes, Leonard has to say yes. I have a hard time imagining the Spurs taking Deng unless they can off load Gasol or Mills which I don’t see the Lakers signing off on.
I’d also hope for him to pass his physical with flying colors. In some ways, if this quad is a lingering/re-occurring issue, it’s scarier than a player coming back from an Achilles injury. Both represent a loss of explosiveness and quickness, in general, but the way this thing lingered raises big red flags. Not sure how much one can be different from another but Tony P came back and he’s a lot older.
They may have played that out a bit, but regardless an organization worth it’s salt will due extreme due diligence to make sure. If they find out it is issue, or worse that they’re looking to invest in a player willing to engage in brinkmanship during a playoff run…I’d just as soon take a chance on IT’s hip or Boogie’s ankle. I don’t question either one of those players’ hearts the way I now have big time questions about Kawhi.
Which is a shame, because I admire the heck out of the way he plays the game. I kind of truly hope his injury is, in some ways, more complex. At least then I would only have questions about his leg. Going to be a very interesting few weeks.
That’s a good deal for the Spurs. More than they can get from anybody else if Kawhi won’t agree to re-sign with another team.

Aloha Sean,
The best chance is free agency next year. I don’t think the Spurs take on Deng’s contract. They have too many options that are better then taking on a bad deal. Heck they could even get rid of Pau. The next scenario would be a sign and trade with Randle if he would agree to go there. Personally I think he goes home to Dallas if the Lakers don’t keep him. And would The Spurs want him? They have a bad 16 mil contract with Pau. By Signing Randle along with LA on the books they would have nearly 60 mil tied up in 3 bigs. The only other way would be to trade Kuz, Bi, Hart and Lonzo along with a throw in like maybe Ennis. Kawhi is good but he’s not that good.

All good points Michael. I hope we don’t concede in the negotiations.
Kawhi seemingly has all the cards.
And no one has ever defied Pop before.
Remember that media scrum where Manu and TP both said they’ve had the same injury and they played? I think it came from Pop,as a gamble move…he lost. Kawhi and Dennis see a mistrust in the Locker Room.
My opinion anyway. I have a strong relationship with my Uncle, ever more stronger and solidified after our loss.

I guess they could do it after the 1st but that would kind of make the 3 star dream harder because you can be over the cap and make a trade dollar for dollar trade.
