Would you rather have PG and LeBron or PG, Randle, IT, KCP, and Lopez?

If the Lakers sign LBJ and PG, then yes, the veterans without whom we would not be playing and winning like we have been since Jan 7th will be gone.
But, as I’ve argued and Eric Pincus has confirmed, the Lakers could sign PG and still keep JR, IT, and KCP and even BL if he would agree to the room exception.
I think we would be a better team with JR, IT, KCP, and Lopez than if we give up all those guys so we can sign LBJ. What do you think?

If I were MagicandRob, I’d try my best to keep Ju … the other 3 r expendable IMO … that’s if they have a legit shot at signing both LBJ and PG. JMO

Why are we drinking the IT kool-aid? He hasn’t done anything to show me he is the Boston IT. By the way, they traded him and so did the Cavs. And I DON’T HATE him! I just don’t see him as a good fit overall. I have been watching Cavs of late, as well as my Lakers (every game, every minute), and LBJ is just unreal! Not so sure I wouldn’t sign LBJ and Randle and then PG if we can afford him. Lopez and KCP, no thanks. I will say that both have had good games, but…

Maybe it’s because he is the 2nd most productive player we have. Only BI has a higher scoring avg, and highet 3pt fg%. But IT plays 6 less minutes and is a lot better free throw shooter and assist man. IT -- 15.9 ppg 5.3 assists 27 min. BI -- 16.2 ppg 3.9 assists 33.8 min. JR -- 15.9 ppg 2.5 assists 26.1 min.
If you factor it out to 36 mins (BI already plays 33) IT’s numbers are 21.2 ppg and 7.2 assist. BI’s numbers are 17.3 ppg and 4.1 assists. JR? 21.9 ppg 3.5 assists.
3pt / ft
IT .348 .930
BI .380 .689
JR .214 .703
Yeah, DJ, the IT kool-aid is good. Maybe you should see an optometrist.

What about keeping everyone and just adding LeBron?
He has to see the value of what Julius has been bringing.
Only issue with this is IT wanting to start and the fact that they don’t like playing together.

I thought about that too, DJ, and am in the process of writing an articled that addresses it. The short answer is you could sign LeBron as your only superstar and then sign Randle and KCP using their Bird rights. IT would be gone obviously and KCP is a Klutch Sports client so that part makes sense. Could be option if PG stayed with OKC and LeBron wanted to come. Would you trade Randle and KCP for PG?

I would not trade Randle and KCP for PG.
I am very high on Randle right now and I hope Magic and Rob do the right thing and sign him.
If LeQueen can’t realize how good Randle is now and how much better he can become, then I REALLY don’t want him.

I just think about what Golden State had to sacrifice to get Kevin Durant. Harrison Barnes, who was promptly way overpaid by Mark Cuban. Paul George is no KD and Harrison Barnes is no Julius Randle. If Durant is a 10, which he is, let’s call Paul George a 9. If Harrison Barnes is a 6, Julius Randle is a 7, but a much more dominant player than Barnes. I’m like you on this. Our core should be Randle, Ingram, Lonzo and Kuzma. If we sign Paul George to ADD to this core, that would be a huge summer IMO. It is certainly what I want as a fan and if these guys remain on their trajectories, we could be in the NBA Finals in 2020 or 2021. Hopefully Josh Hart, Thomas Bryant and even a stronger, matured Ivica Zubac will be along for that ride, too. I am big on continuity and I believe that all four of that young core have all-star potential.
