I just love lurking on the Boston Celtics blog when they lose a game to the Lakers. Oh, the angst. But they also have very savvy fans who appreciate the history of the rivalry and recognize that our young team played well last night. Whatever we do, do not trade Randle to the Celtics who really like him as a player.

Julius would be great on Celtics but Smart would also be great on Lakers. The reality is both would be better fits on the other’s team. Overall, I thought the Lakers’ young stars looked better than the Celtics’ young players. We won despite free throws and missing Lonzo.
We keep hearing what a great roster the Celtics have but I think they’re overrated and are falling back to earth. IT was probably a better fit than Kyrie, who can’t do it all alone without LeBron. Kuzma > Tatum, Ingram > Brown. Celtics need Haywood to move to the next level.

Smart?
eh…
i’d rather have Randle.

Totally agree, we already have Lonzo. Smart doubles-down on the ‘can do everything but shoot’ skill set we have in both KCP and Ball.

With his defense, he would be a great backup point guard,
Backup point guard is important as a 6th man in today’s NBA.
Lakers need backup point guard more than third power forward.
But I too would love to keep Randle. He is a unicorn in his own way.

The only reason to NOT trade for PG at the deadline would be if you wanted to keep all the kids and just sign PG as your one max contract free agent. Frankly, I could support that option or one where Cousins was the one max contract. Just don’t think Magic and Rob would but maybe we can keep this streak going and change their minds.

Maybe. I think he’s all in on the Celtics and they seem all in on him. Randle does make sense, for them, he makes a lot sense for us. We already have KCP, Ennis, Caruso and Clarkson. Unless there’s something major going on with that knee I think we have enough guards who can’t shoot. His defense is better than all of theirs, except maybe KCP, but that’s where it ends.

That is exactly the path I hope the team treads. Swap Cousins for George, though, and roll with Ingram improving.

There are more Smarts than Randles in this league, although I wouldn’t mind having BOTH of them.

Really guys??!!!! The idea of making the Celtics even slightly better through a trade with us repulses me, and to end up with Marcus Smart? Even worse! Not worth it. I’d rather keep Randle.
